Netflix is one of the largest video streaming services in the world. With it, you can watch series and movies online, on any device connected to the Internet, such as PCs, game consoles, DVD and Blu-ray players, smart TVs, set-top boxes and cell phones and tablets.
However, to make a quick transmission, the app depends on a few things, such as a good Internet speed. If your Netflix app not working as it should. See below how to solve potential problems.
One of the most common causes of problems with Netflix is a weak connection to the Internet. With that in mind, we’ve put together a few tips for solving networking problems. The following procedures are used for the following gadgets: a gaming console, computer, smart TV, Blu-ray, decoder, online transmission devices, mobile phones, and tablets.
Restart the home network
Step 1. Turn off all equipment (game consoles, computer, etc.) for 1 minute.
Step 2. After unplugging them, take the modem and wireless router from the power outlet and wait at least 30 seconds.
Step 3. After doing this, turn the modem back on and wait until the software lights return to normal. If your router is separated from the modem, turn it on and wait for the lights to return to normal operation.
Step 4. Turn the power back on and see if Netflix will work properly. If it does not work, go to the Netflix help center or move on to the next step.
Connect the gadget directly to the modem
Step 1. If you are using a wireless router connected to the modem, but still cannot connect, try disconnecting the router and connecting it directly to the modem with an Ethernet cable. Doing so eliminates the chances of the problem being on the router and makes it easier to identify the cause of the connection error.
Note that ignoring the router may be a temporary solution, but if this setting is not right for you, contact your network administrator to reconfigure the router – if that is the problem.
Step 2. If you have done the above steps, you are already connected directly to the modem. If you still cannot watch a video on Netflix, you will need to contact your equipment manufacturer or broadband provider to verify that your modem and Internet service are working correctly. It could be due to Netflix network error as well, so you can consult Netflix experts as well.
Note: If you’re using a mobile device, such as a tablet or smartphone, try connecting to another Wi-Fi, such as your neighbor’s or some public place. Another option is to use the device’s mobile data network to connect. In general, it is not recommended to use the data to watch online, but this is a way to find out if there is a problem in setting up your home network.
Restore the default settings of your Internet Service Provider
Step 1. Another useful tip that can help solve the problem is to use the default settings of your ISP. This is because some users tend to make customizations and some of the preferences may be causing the problem.
Step 2. If you are connected through a virtual private network (VPN), disable it and connect directly using your home network. If you created a custom DNS setting on your device, try resetting it to automatically fetch DNS.
Improve Wi-Fi network signal
If you tried the previous steps, but none of them worked, follow the tips below to improve wireless network connectivity.
Tip 1. Try to change your router location, as there may be a problem in receiving the signal. A good option is to try to put the router in a central area of the house since the reception usually gets stronger in these environments.
Tip 2. Never leave your router on the ground, as this will hamper the range and distribution of the signal. Ideally, place it on a shelf or table.
Tip 3. Some electronic devices interfere with your wireless network and may prevent you from connecting to the Wi-Fi network, such as cordless phones, microwaves, and more. One tip is to not put your router near these devices.
